Our Vision

An intercultural community worshiping in English through sharing the good news, growing in faith, and acting in love.

  • Jesus said to him, “Feed my sheep."  (John 21:16)

We want to see all in our community:

    • Being fed by God's word as the Spirit reveals Jesus to us.

    • Growing in intimacy with the Father as the Spirit helps us to pray.

We want to see this being worked out in the lives of our members whether that is in serving coffee or considering vocational ministry.

We want to be multiplying as disciples raise up more disciples.

  • ‘I tell you,’ he replied, ‘if they keep quiet, the stones will cry out.’ (Luke 19:40)

We want to be present in the life of communities in Lyon so that they have opportunities to see the gospel lived out and to hear the good news of what Jesus has done for them.

We want to serve in partnership with local churches and mission initiatives.

  • For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many. (Mark 10:45)

We want our community to reflect Jesus' character of sacrificial love and compassion.

We want to  offer a spiritual home to displaced people from around the world who need logistical and practical help.

We want to offer practical help through Solidarités Anglicanes, our social action charity.

We want to pursue green practices in partnership with A Rocha.

Our Beliefs

We are a Christian church in Lyon, worshipping in English and rooted in the Anglican tradition. We believe the good news that God saves us through Jesus Christ, as revealed in the Bible. We are part of the worldwide church and hold to scripture as God’s word in line with the historic creeds and out of which our reformed Anglican heritage is born.

  • We rejoice in the good news that Jesus Christ died for our sins, rose bodily from the grave, and reigns today as Lord. Through his death and resurrection, God offers forgiveness, reconciliation, and new life. Salvation is entirely by God’s grace, through faith alone, in Christ alone. The Holy Spirit applies this saving work, bringing new birth and growth in Christ-likeness.

  • We believe the Bible — both Old and New Testaments — is the inspired, infallible Word of God and our supreme authority in all matters of faith and life. Through Scripture, God makes himself known, calls us to trust in Christ, and equips us for every good work.

  • We are part of the one, holy, universal, and apostolic church, and we stand within the Anglican tradition. We affirm the historic creeds (Apostles’ and Nicene) as faithful summaries of biblical truth. We are shaped by the Reformation heritage of the Book of Common Prayer and the Thirty-Nine Articles, which emphasise salvation by grace alone through faith alone in Christ alone. As an Anglican church, we cherish both the richness of the sacraments and the centrality of preaching God’s Word.
