Friday News - 18th September
Dear friends,
This autumn, we’re beginning a journey through Mark’s Gospel. Right from his opening line, Mark makes his message clear: this book is all about Jesus, who is the Son of God, and it is good news.
Those two claims run through this book. As we read together this autumn, here are two questions to ask of every part you read:
First, how is Mark showing us that Jesus is the Son of God? Not just a good king, though he is that. Not just a wise teacher, though he is that too. Mark wants us to see someone far greater: God himself, come among us. Watch for the way Mark keeps pointing past the ordinary man in front of people, to who he really is.
Second, how is Mark showing us that this is good news? Not just true, but good. Good enough to matter for the exhausted and the unprepared. Good enough for the person who knows they can't fix their own life, let alone the world around them. Mark isn't just telling us a story about a king from long ago. He's telling us that this king has come near, for us.
Whether you've read Mark a hundred times or never opened a bible, read some chapters this week and ask these two questions. See what Mark shows you about who Jesus is, and why that's good news for you.

Communion Service, followed by Serving Sunday & Church Family Lunch (Potluck / Bring & Share)
Children’s groups will be happening during the service.
After the service, we will set up tables, pull up the chairs, and continue our fellowship together over food. Bring something to share if you are able to, come anyway if not.
